MGM Records was mostly a pop label during the 50s – but the company was also home to Hank Williams, and had a great ear for hillbilly and country artists too – which led to the surprisingly strong streak of rockabilly numbers that you'll hear in this set! Only a few of these artists ended up as bigger names at the time – and most are the sort that were recorded briefly for a company like MGM – given some top-shelf treatment in the studio, but no promotion out in the world – leaving rare nuggets like this to only get properly discovered by a collection like this!
