As the sound of the 1960s faded into the background, open-minded musicians across Germany - in East
and West - forged their own unique path into the 1970s and beyond, strangely free from the overtly commercial and conformist concerns of their neighbors across Europe.
Why this generation from this
particular country may no longer be impressionable is a topic for another place, but for their
their own reasons, Tangerine Dream, Popol Vuh, Faust, Conrad Schnitzler and their contemporaries didn't want to get
the pop charts, but to explore the boundaries of inner space and intellectual curiosity, to move with wild
and free abandon, moving from rock to jazz to lengthy progressive freak-outs and formative electronics.
Many never returned, lost and adrift on a sea of haze and Moog arpeggios, but
“Electric Junk” charts their journey nonetheless, documenting it for future generations.
