(MIG Music) 4 tracks, digisleeveKänguru” is the third album by Guru Guru, released in 1972 on the Brain label. Produced by Conny Plank in the then “classic” Guru Guru line-up with Ax Genrich (guitar), Uli Trepte (bass) and Mani Neumeier (drums, vocals).
“Känguru” basically consists of the same ingredients as its two predecessors ‘Ufo’ and ‘Hinten’, which were released on Rolf Kaiser's Ohr label in 1970 and 1971. “Känguru” is pure Krautrock, with ‘only’ 4 tracks on the album, all between 10 and 15 minutes long.
However, the band moves away from the disorganized chaos of the two previous albums and gives the songs more structure, the heaviness is reduced, everything sounds more accessible and harmonious. At the same time, the humorous component increases, for example Mani Neumeier's chanting in the introduction to “Immer lustig”. In short: “Känguru” is a Krautrock gem.
