That'll Flat Git It CD-Album-Series with Rockabilly Music
Classic Rockabilly on CD
Back in 1992, we had the idea that we should create the all-time definitive Rockabilly CD-Album-Series, That'll Flat Git It! - Above all, Rockabilly was music recorded for 45RPM singles, so we designed a CD-Album-Serie label-by-label instead of artist-by-artist. And we compiled it for listening pleasure. Just the great stuff, plus a few super rarities.
Every of these That'll Flat Git It CDs would be for the most part a 30 song jukebox of the finest Rockabilly ever recorded for all the great labels. We sourced the very best sounding tapes and took them to the best mastering engineers. On top we took the packaging to a new level.
We adopted the catchphrase of the first Rockabilly dee-jay, Dewey Phillips, 'That'll Flat Git It!', and we hired Bill Millar, who'd compiled the still-classic label-oriented LPs in the 1970s and 1980s, to write the notes. We looked for previously unpublished photos, and tried to find all the artists who'd never been found before.
The result is a truly definitive Rockabilly CD-Album-Serie
"Rock On" hieß es 1959.
So, weitere Highlights gefällig?

King had a surprisingly strong legacy in the early years of rock!
The legendary King Records is known as an important label for R&B and hillbilly music – but the label also has a surprisingly strong legacy in the early years of rock as well – maybe in part because it did such a good job of keeping its ear to the ground with those other important styles! King never got the chart-topping hits of a label like Sun Records, but it did manage to draw together an equally impressive array of talents – some still underground names after all these years, others now elevated in the secret history of rock and roll through their work for the label! The set brings together 30 tracks from King and related Federal and DeLuxe labels, all with the detailed notes and well-chosen cuts that continue to make this series so important, even after many years and dozens of releases!
Musikhistorisch wertvoll!
Good Time, 3/2023
A nice edition with generous booklet and many nice pictures
This release opens in the 200th note with the unknown Cecil McNabb Jr. and "Clock Tickin' Rhythm", other artists are more familiar to the collector such as Mac Curtis ("If I had Me A Woman"), Charlie Feathers ("One Hand Loose"/"Nobody's Wo- man"), Boyd Bennett ("You Upset Me Baby"), Moon Mullican ("Rock 'n' Roll Mr. Bullfrog"), Rusty Bennett ("You Upset Me Baby"), and many others. Bullfrog"), Rusty York ("Shake 'Em Up Baby") and Luke McDaniel ("One More Heart") to name a few. In addition to these, there are several who easily hold their own such as Joe Penny, Delbert Barker, Hank Mizell, Bill Beach and Donnie White!
