The post-war period was over and reconstruction was in full swing. After the difficult years, there was also a need in the GDR for a healthy world, exotic places and new sounds. The Korean War and the Cuban crisis brought the world to the brink of a new war. In these troubled times, people longed for a healthy world and a sense of security; the German hit was booming at the beginning of the 1960s. The great hits of the early 1960s were often popular hits from the Federal Republic of Germany in the GDR, which were re-recorded by interpreters of the East German Amiga.

But the East German Schlager composers also created numerous Schlager hits, which were also popular in the West. One could forget the still dreary everyday life and dream one's way to the south or swing one's dancing leg while twisting. On this double CD you can find the great East German hits of the early 60s in original recordings, partly available for the first time on CD. Helga Brauer, Günter Geißler and Bärbel Wachholz invite you to dance ... memories come back!
