Nazi Airwaves Nazi Airwaves: Nazi Propaganda On War-Time Swing Records (Limited Numbered Edition) (6-CDs 1-Buch)

Nazi Airwaves: Nazi Propaganda On War-Time Swing Records is an extensive historical study by Rainer E. Lotz examining how the Nazi regime used swing and jazz music for propaganda. This limited, numbered collector’s edition contains six CDs with 162 restored historical recordings, together with a richly illustrated, 240-page hardbound book in English. The collection focuses on Charlie And His Orchestra, the Lutz Templin Orchestra whose musicians performed familiar swing and jazz melodies with deliberately altered propaganda lyrics. The recordings were made between 1936 and 1943 and were intended, among other purposes, to reach foreign audiences through radio broadcasts. The repertoire includes familiar melodies such as Stormy Weather, Thanks For The Memory, Night And Day, Stardust and I've Got You Under My Skin in historical propaganda versions. The book documents the background, people and events involved, with all song lyrics transcribed and annotated in their historical context. This is a revealing yet disturbing historical document on the relationship between music, broadcasting and political manipulation.
