Various Northwest Killers Vol.3 - Work It On Out! 1965-1966 (CD)

And for the loud crowd, we wrap up with an entirely unissued 1965-66 garage collection! Dig the speaker shredding fury of Rocky and his Friends' Wailers cover You Weren't Using Your Head, the snotball take-a-hike punk of the Jet City Five's Huh and the spunky teen crank of the Extremes' Long Dark Collar - and that's just the first three cuts!

Northwest Killers Vol. 3: Work It On Out! 1965–1966 collects 23 previously unreleased garage rock recordings made at the Northwest Studios in Seattle. Released by Norton Records in 2001, it is the third and final volume in the Northwest Killers series. Producer Keany Barton had worked with groups such as The Sonics and The Wailers, and their influence can be felt throughout this collection. The recordings feature sharp guitar breaks, pounding drums, swirling organ and raw, snarling vocals, while some tracks also include harmony and background vocals. The line-up includes Rocky & His Friends, Jet City Five, Extremes, Beachcombers, The Vandals, Rocknoceros, Jams, Bunch, The Hustlers, Misterians, Castells and Right Of Way. Highlights include You Weren't Using Your Head, Help Yourself Baby, My Friend, Talkin' About You, Intoxication and Bad Little Woman. An excellent release for collectors of Sixties garage rock and the raw Northwest sound.
