The Infamous Stringdusters A Tribute To Bill Monroe (CD)

A Tribute To Bill Monroe includes such Monroe favorites as Sitting Alone In The Moonlight, Toy Heart, Travelin Down This Lonesome Road and The Little Girl And The Dreadful Snake. While the Infamous Stringdusters' influences are many, there is no doubt that Bill and bluegrass play a major role in the band's sound. The Infamous Stringdusters' LP does not feature the mandolin, Bill's main instrument, as they pursued a way to be innovative in the music they created together, explains Jeremy Garrett, and to take advantage of the musical foundation we all share.

"Bill Monroe was, as far as I can remember, the first bluegrass music I owned," Andy Hall added. "I asked my uncle for a Bill Monroe CD box set and was given it for my birthday when I turned 18. The sound that came out of my speakers blew me away. It sounded like old acoustic heavy metal."

The quintet will donate a portion of the proceeds from the album to the IBMA Foundation, an organization known for helping individuals, organizations, foundations and corporations support the future of bluegrass music.
