Every Margot-Hielscher fan who is a fan of his own owns the Bear Family CD'Ein Mädchen aus Berlin' (BCD 16380). The double CD'Hallo Fräulein' is the perfect complement.

Margot Hielscher, born in Berlin in 1919, began her long and successful career behind the curtain of theatres and concert halls - as a costume designer. In this way she came into contact with the most popular actors and soon (from 1939) belonged to them herself. She was in front of the camera with the greatest of the profession - Rühmann, Albers, Rökk, Leander, Knef. When she also had to sing, she was discovered in parallel for the music. She worked with the most famous orchestral conductors, composers and performers, and the vocal stylist effortlessly managed the balancing act between chansons and hits, between film music and songs to small and large accompaniment. That she represented Germany twice at the Grand Prix is another milestone on her musical path.

This fabulous double album is a treasure trove, not only for all Hielscher fans. Besides well-known (re)n titles the set contains numerous never before released recordings, among others songs with texts by Erich Kästner (a rare radio production from 1955) and the English writer and actor Noel Coward ('Mad About The Boy'). And that's not all: there are four top rarities from a collaboration between Margot Hielscher and Annunzio Mantovani (London, 1951), the rare'Kurfürstendamm Melody' (1954), a duet with Gisela May ('Chor der Girls' 1955), the English recording Close Your Eyes and...and...and....

This double CD, equipped with an opulent booklet (including poster reproductions of all Hielscher films!) has the character of a sounding monument to the bearer of the Federal Cross of Merit and the film tape in gold. Congratulations to a celebrated, respected music and film legend!
