Grateful Dead – Pioniere des Psychedelic Rock und der Jam-Band-Kultur

Grateful Dead wurde 1965 in San Francisco gegründet und entwickelte sich schnell zu einer der einflussreichsten Bands der Gegenkultur. Ihr einzigartiger Mix aus Rock, Folk, Blues, Country und Jazz, gepaart mit improvisierten Liveshows, machte sie zu Kultfiguren der Hippie-Bewegung. Songs wie Truckin’, Casey Jones, Friend of the Devil oder Ripple sind längst Klassiker.

Legendär ist auch die enge Bindung zu ihren Fans, den „Deadheads“, die der Band auf Tour folgten und einen wesentlichen Teil ihrer Identität mitformten. Unter der charismatischen Leitung von Jerry Garcia blieb Grateful Dead über Jahrzehnte hinweg ein Symbol für musikalische Freiheit und kreative Improvisation.
