Dick's Picks Vol. 19 is the first full concert from 1973 to be released, and the first concert from their consistently excellent Midwest tour in the fall of '73. It captures the Dead a few days after the release of Wake of the Flood, the first release on their own Grateful Dead Records label, and more than half of the album's tracks appear here, highlighted by stellar (no pun intended) renditions of "Stella Blue" and "Eyes of the World."

Both songs appear as the first encore on Disc 3, which is arguably one of the best single discs in the entire Dick's Picks canon; the disc opens with a 15-minute "Dark Star" that segues effortlessly into "Mind Left Body Jam" and leads into a truly transcendent rendition of "Morning Dew." Add in "Sugar Magnolia" and the show-closing "Johnny B. Goode," and you know everyone went home happy. Again, there is an excellent sound mix and as always in HDCD sound. Out of print for years!
