WMG is releasing the Grateful Dead's 1973 debut album "Wake Of The Flood" in September 2023: remastered and expanded with previously unreleased material.

In 1973, following the death of founding member Ron "Pigpen" McKernan and the temporary departure of drummer Mickey Hart, the Grateful Dead released "Wake Of The Flood." As the debut album of their own record label, Grateful Dead Records, the studio LP marked a time of transition, growth, perseverance and optimism for the band. It also introduced a new lineup that included new members Keith and Donna Godchaux.

Following the release of "Wake Of The Flood," the Grateful Dead embarked on a short tour that ended in Evanston, Illinois. From that final night comes the bonus material on the 50th Anniversary Deluxe Edition.

The CD Deluxe Edition includes two songs from the new album ("Weather Report Suite" and "Mississippi Half-Step") as well as one of the most creative and inspired jams of the entire tour with the unique sequence "Morning Dew," "Playing In The Band," "Uncle John's Band" and "Playing In The Band."

Grateful Dead wurde 1965 in San Francisco gegründet und entwickelte sich schnell zu einer der einflussreichsten Bands der Gegenkultur.
