After several years of wild Rock'n'roll, the authorities and of course mainly parents almost demanded a softer type of music. So in the late 50's a wave of handsome, clean cut nice guy artists such as Frankie Avalon, Brian Hyland Fabian, Bobby Vinton, Freddy Cannon and Bobby Vee hit the scene.

Many of these boys were "manufactured" to fit the demands, and the teen-beat era was born. Some guys skipped school to try their luck in recording studios and on performing live, just to be a teen star. Many youngsters saw Dick Clarks "Bandstand Dance" on TV which had an enormous influence on the teenagers. This show also opened up opportunities or the young artists to climb higher on the ladder to success.
