Various My Bobby Sox Queen And Other Teen Rockers (CD)

(Classics Records) 28 tracks

If obscure teenage rock’n’roll is your thing, “My Bobby Sox Queen And Other Teen Rockers” is a compilation worth exploring. Released in Sweden on Classics CD 711, it brings together 28 tracks devoted to the energetic teenbeat and teen rock’n’roll sound of the era. The selection features a fascinating line-up of lesser-known artists, including Alan Riddle with “The Moon Is Crying”, Larry O’Keefe’s “Ain’t-A That Something”, Johnny Raphael’s “School Of Love” and Tommy Lane’s title track “My Bobby Sox Queen”. Bill Goodwin is also featured with “Revenuer Man”. Rather than concentrating on familiar names, the compilation digs into the more obscure side of teenage rock’n’roll, making it a rewarding discovery for collectors who enjoy digging beyond the standard hits. A lively 28-track snapshot of the teenbeat underground.
