Vol. 4 brings together eleven very beautiful and lovingly selected pieces of music by eleven different artists ... American singer/songwriter Eric Andersen kicks things off with the soulful "Rain Falls Down in Amsterdam", backed with some pleasingly less schmaltzy strings. Steve Abbado with "Steam" serves a similar taste, the title even more reduced. And so it goes on: Lots of gentlemen with acoustic guitars determine the picture. Thereby it is astonishing how much range of variation there is in the seemingly so monotonous theme. Very great is the live played "Last Jam" by Freddy Koella and Richard Bargel on the second side of the as always excellently produced record. All performers prove to be virtuoso guitarists, but limit themselves to a coherent arrangement and do not put their dexterity unduly in the foreground.
