Time goes by, and strangely enough, Jukebox Music Factory has never dealt with francophone singers and groups before!
Putting together a new, quality track listing is no small challenge when so many other (often excellent) compilations have already been produced. And yet, our old friend El Vidocq has somehow managed it, limiting himself to France, Belgium and Canada to dig up a selection of real nuggets. As usual, the gregarious disc jockey has favored danceable, exceptional tunes, while staying away from simply odd or anecdotal pieces.... This album combines rock, jerk and froggy yé-yé with extremely cinematographic instruments. Some songs are amazingly modern, others just outrageous. The answer of Gaston to Nino Ferrer. The addictions of José Salcy. Cléo recalls the lifestyle of the 60s and Annie Duparc the changing society. Tao settles accounts with his parents, while Christian Gaubert and Claude Bolling conduct their ensembles masterfully, on a par with the world's greatest orchestras!

It is no surprise that this entertaining and groovy album full of talented musicians, many of whom have been forgotten but happily rediscovered here, does not contain a drop of ennui.
