"The other bands" is still a conceptual summary for alternative bands in the last years of the GDR. This was the most intense and fresh music you could hear from the East during that time.

This box combines the debut album of Sandow (with the hit "Born In The GDR", referring to Springsteen's "Born In The U. S. A."), the first LP of the speed punk band Die Skeptiker, (known as the Dead Kennedys of the GDR), the legendary live album of Herbst in Peking (recorded in Paris in 1990, it is considered the first indipendent LP of the GDR) and the first album of Tausend Tonnen Obst (a rough mixture of hard core, metal and punk). The sampler "Grenzfälle" is a lively assembly of the young East German music scene of those confused years full of border crossings.
