What a nice CD! Just bought it now (October) and it brings me back to the Pacific Coast beaches where I have been in late July!

Now, some 60 years after their release, we can listen to their summer contributions and wonder why they didn't become hits

Here the Bear League offers us a collection about summer, sun and the given beach. It's been a year since we last visited a beach, so summer is welcome. We lie on the beach and together with our friends we enjoy the summer tunes streaming from the battery-powered travel radio. Well, that was a long time ago today we have the music on our mobile phones and there we can listen to this year's summer CD entitled "Destination Beach". The songs on this album date from 1958-64 and feature Link Wray, Frankie Avalon, Bobby Darin, the Drifters, the Marcels, Bobby Vee and Freddie Cannon, to name a few of the biggest names. It also features a lot of artists who may have been only local stars. How many of us knew about Buddy Skipper and the Jetty Jumpers, Scotty McKay, Paul Peek, Wayne Hollers, Al Barkle and Ray Doggett to name a few. Now, some 60 years after their release, we can listen to their summer contributions and wonder why they didn't become hits. The accompanying 28-page booklet is replete with photos of the featured artists and a brief biography, all in familiar Bear Family style.
