After initial experience as a rock 'n' roll pianist and as a protégé of Joe Meek, north London native Miki Dallon turned to songwriting and recorded some demos with his old friend and Outlaws bassist Chas Hodges, which attracted the attention of publisher Millwick.
As Millwick moved into record production with its own Strike and Go labels, Miki worked in a variety of capacities, including solo singer, musician, songwriter, talent scout and producer.
He wrote hits for The Sorrows (“Take A Heart”) and Neil Christian (“That's Nice”) and released a quartet of solo singles before starting his own record label, Young Blood, after the collapse of Millwick's empire.
This 2-CD box set “Cheat And Lie” is an anthology of Miki's impressive and diverse work from the '60s, ranging from early home demos with Chas Hodges to his work later in the decade with artists like Don Fardon (including the Top 3 hit “Indian Reservation”) and British R&B pioneer Jimmy Powell.
