Here's another fantastic edition of Dusty Tapes aimed at The Shadows fans. After the recordings with radio edits, it's now time for British TV edits. These have been collected on 4 CDs, containing a total of 95 (!!!) recordings from 1961 to 1968 that have never been released before. The series is entitled The Shadows on TV. Countless versions of the most popular hits as well as compositions that were never intended for release can be found there, e.g. Never On A Sunday, All Through The Night, You've Gotta Have Heart, The Shoop Shoop Song, Memories Are Made Of This, Puttin' On A Style or Chicago. All recordings are from off-air sources, as the original tapes have long since been lost or deleted. The quality is, with a few exceptions, very good, if not perfect, while some of the tracks are truly excellent. Given the archival and collector value of this material and its extreme rarity, we have decided to collect the material in its entirety regardless of quality. The entire collection has been very carefully remastered and restored, with the speed corrected. The CDs have been issued in luxury gatefold sleeves with laminated card covers, including professional sleeve notes on the material and detailed source notes for each recording. The records are in special colored inserts. The design of the labels matches the style of the band's vinyl records from the 60s. It is an excellent addition to the official discography and an absolute must for The Shadows fans.

Shadows

In 1958 guitarist Hank Marvin, guitarist Bruce Welch, bassist Jet Harris and drummer Tony Meeham joined forces to form a group called The Drifters to accompany Cliff Richard. Due to name disputes with the American group Drifters, they later renamed themselves Shadows.

In 1961 Brian Bennet joined the drums for Tony Meeham and Jet Harris was replaced by Brian Locking and John Rostill. The Shadows reaped considerable success with instrumental songs such as "Apache', "Atlantis" or "Frightened City' and as studio group Cliff Richards. In 1970 the Shadows split up to reunite in November 1973 with Hank Marvin, Bruce Welch, Brian Bennet and newcomer John Farrar. In this formation they also recorded their last LP "Rockin' with curly leads' and in 1975 they represented Great Britain at the "Grand Prix de la Chanson' in Stockholm, where they took second place.
