Two CDs are released with a total of 51 tracks by The Shadows recorded for BBC radio between 1959 and 1968. Many of the recordings in these versions have never before been released on a Shadows album. This sensational collection, entitled “Lost BBC Sessions”, would never have been made without the great commitment and dedication of the band's fans who recorded radio broadcasts with the Shadows on their home tape recorders in the 1950s/60s. Our thanks go to them for ensuring that these priceless recordings are preserved for posterity. The CDs will contain only “off-air” recordings, but in really very good/excellent sound quality. Only two or three of the absolutely unique tracks will be included in poor sound quality (for collector/historical reasons). Both CDs will be released in laminated, color cardboard sleeves with a special cover for the CD as well as an insert with detailed descriptions of the recordings - with professionally edited recording dates. All recordings have been remastered from the best available sources with optimum sound restoration and corrected speed. These sets, which include all known surviving “off-air” recordings, have been specially compiled to celebrate the band's 60th anniversary. They are an absolute must for all fans and collectors of The Shadows recordings.

Shadows

In 1958 guitarist Hank Marvin, guitarist Bruce Welch, bassist Jet Harris and drummer Tony Meeham joined forces to form a group called The Drifters to accompany Cliff Richard. Due to name disputes with the American group Drifters, they later renamed themselves Shadows.

In 1961 Brian Bennet joined the drums for Tony Meeham and Jet Harris was replaced by Brian Locking and John Rostill. The Shadows reaped considerable success with instrumental songs such as "Apache', "Atlantis" or "Frightened City' and as studio group Cliff Richards. In 1970 the Shadows split up to reunite in November 1973 with Hank Marvin, Bruce Welch, Brian Bennet and newcomer John Farrar. In this formation they also recorded their last LP "Rockin' with curly leads' and in 1975 they represented Great Britain at the "Grand Prix de la Chanson' in Stockholm, where they took second place.
