Van Morrison releases his 45th studio album "Accentuate The Positive". As on this year's album "Moving On Skiffle", Van Morrison returns to one of his childhood passions on "Accentuate The Positive": rock'n'roll. Growing up in Belfast shortly after the Second World War, he was greatly inspired by the heady sounds of 20th century blues and rock 'n' roll. He listened to artists such as Fats Domino, Chuck Berry and the Everly Brothers and it wasn't long before Van was intuitively reinterpreting these sounds with his own band in the pubs of his home town.

Several decades later, Van Morrison now takes on the genre by reinterpreting some of his personal favorites for "Accentuate The Positive", infusing these timeless songs with an energy that continues to challenge and expand traditions. Van's inimitable voice, combined with superb arrangements, gives new life to such great songs as "Lonesome Train" by The Johnny Burnette Trio, "Shakin' All Over" by Johnny Kidd & The Pirates and Big Joe Turner's seminal rock 'n' roll hit "Flip, Flop and Fly". Contributors to the album include the late Jeff Beck (electric guitar) and Chris Farlowe (vocals) on 'Lonesome Train' and Taj Mahal (guitar) on 'Lucille' and 'Shake, Rattle and Roll'.

An Van Morrison fasziniert vor allem seine Fähigkeit, mit jeder Platte das Repertoire seiner eigenwilligen, unverkennbaren Songs um ein weiteres Dutzend zu vergrößern. Die meisten seiner deutschen Fans kennen ihn nur aus der Zeit mit seiner Gruppe „Them“ eine Gruppe, die, so sagte der Ire Morrison einmal, endlos über Jazz und Bluesphrasen jammte, die Musik machte, weil Musik, Anfang der 60er Jahre der einzige Weg war, um frei zu werden. Eine Gruppe als musikalisches Medium für Sänger, Gitarristen, Saxophonisten und Schlagzeuger. Spätestens mit „Gloria“ schuf Van Morrison sich einen Namen als Hit- Schreiber, spätestens mit „Here Comes The Night' war Van Morrison als Hitsänger bekannt. Doch da existierte „Them“ bereits nicht mehr.

Seine Titel kamen in Amerika in die Charts, er stellte sich eine Gruppe zusammen und begab sich auf USA-Tournee. Seine erste Single in den Staaten wurde ein Riesenhit. Titel: „Brown Eyed Girl'. Es begann die Zeit größter Erfolge in den USA, Europa jedoch schien ihn vergessen zu haben. Seine Verkaufsschlager in USA schafften in Europa lediglich kleinste Auflagen. Das änderte sich erst, als Van Morrison Ende 1974 nach England zurückkehrte. Seine Konzerte wurden zu Triumphzügen. England feierte den verlorenen Sohn, und auch auf dem Kontinent regte sich nun Interesse für Van Morrison. Der Geheimtip weniger Insider hatte sich sein Europa wiedererobert.
