Milva was born on 17 July 1939 in Goro, Italy. Her career as a singer began when she won a singing competition on Italian television RAI in 1959.

1961 reached the 3rd place at the Sanremo-Festival with the title "l mare nel cassetto". In the same year she won first place at the Giugno della canzone napoletana with "Credere" and third place with "Mare verde". Between 1961 and 2007 Milva took part in the Sanremo Festival 15 times. There "Tango italiano" was her biggest success in 1962 on the second place. In 1962 she was the first non-Ranzösische interpreter to sing songs by Édith Piaf in the Paris "Olympia".

In the same year she got her first roles in the three movies "La bellezza di Ippolita", "Appuntamento in Riviera" and "Canzoni a tempo di twist". In the 80s and 90s she again appeared in several feature films. She sang her songs not only in Italian, but also in French, English and German. Their biggest success in Germany was the title "Hurra, we're still alive". Milva has been very successful throughout Europe and has received numerous awards at home and abroad. She matured to become one of the most successful artists in chanson, also publishing numerous tango recordings. In September 2010, Milva announced that she would no longer be performing for health reasons.
