Friedrich Hollaender was enthusiastic about Blandine Ebinger and tailored all her dramas in three-minute intervals. These'Songs of a Poor Girl' brought a new tone to the turbulent cabaret of the 1920s. They are quiet, fragile chanson ballads around Lieschen Puderbach, that skinny, rachitic fictional figure from the north of Berlin. 

For the Frankfurt performance, which came onto the stage of the'Schauspiel Frankfurt' on 14 October 1996 in the role of Lieschen Puderbach on the occasion of the Dutchman's anniversary with Katherina Lange, the Dutch songs were processed into a piece of music in which the small, poetic grotesques, bizarre idylls are newly created and come to life in all their fragility.
