Madness! The Kings of Black-Forest-Surf are back after 15 years with a new album. With Beat Bröngo (drums) and Manni Mabuse (guitar), the two veterans Torpedo Tom (organ, vocals) and Willi Del Mare (bass guitar) finally have an attractive line-up again.
As usual, most of the songs are instrumental and swing fast and cool between surf, 60's beat and exotica, including such bangers as Flatfoot Am Texaspass, Für Eine Handvoll Oats or the brilliant opener L.E.O.P.O.L.D. with vocal intro. With Hab' keine Lust heut' aufzuthen (Blizzards) and Die Girls hau'n ab of the Motown producer trio Holland-Dozier-Holland there are also two great cover versions - this one with vocals. The secret single hit Dufte! actually reminds a bit of the Aeronauts.
So geht Musik' is by no means an exaggerated album title - this unconventional interpretation of teenager music of the 60s sounds so sharp and up to date. A completely surprising genre highlight!
