When Hurricane Katrina hit the southern US states at the end of August 2005 and New Orleans sank into the floods of the Mississippi, reports emerged at some point that FATS DOMINO was among the missing. In fact, this important Rock'n'Roll and Rhythm & Blues musician had held out in his home in the middle of the city and only just survived the catastrophe. As he stated in an interview shortly after his rescue, he had “lost everything”: instruments, awards, memorabilia. The fact that the now almost 80-year-old will never leave his hometown was demonstrated by a recent comeback concert at the legendary “Tipitina's” (May 2007) and the reconstruction of his house, which has just begun.

The title of his new best-of compilation also reflects this attitude: “Greatest Hits: Walking To New Orleans”! It contains, of course, the greatest successes, including 8 number one hits, and unmistakable classics such as “I'm Walkin”, “Ain't That A Shame”, “Blueberry Hill” or “Blue Monday”. A total of 30 tracks by the man who was one of the first ten members when the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame was founded in Cleveland in 1986, alongside Elvis, Buddy Holly, Chuck Berry and Ray Charles.
