On 29 August 1981, the southern rockers from 38 Special were on stage at the open-air theatre high above the Rhine on the Loreleifelsen. Also there were Nine Below Zero, The Outlaws and Thin Lizzy.

It was the first of the many big open-air events of the WDR Rockpalast in this unique natural ambience in St. Goarshausen. 38 Special delivered an excellent, energetic show, the band was in top form, the line-up at the time with Donnie Van Zant, Don Barnes, Steve Brookins, Jeff Carlisi and Larry Junstrom at the peak of their powers. Vocals and sound were on point. Anyone watching the DVD will immediately notice that 38 Special had as much fun as the audience.
