Southside Johnny & The Asbury Jukes Live At Rockpalast 1979 & 1992 (3-CD + 2-DVD Box)

Southside Johnny, aka John Lyon, comes from New Jersey, just like the Boss (Bruce Springsteen), and of course the paths of the two, or rather the members of the E-Street Band, often crossed. In particular, he has enjoyed a long-standing friendship with Steven Van Zandt, aka Little Steven, who also produced the first three albums by Southside Johnny & the Asbury Jukes, which were very much influenced by rhythm and blues: “I Don't Want to Go Home” (1976), 'This Time It's for Real' (1977) and 'Hearts of Stone' (1978).

The band gave their first concert in Germany in 1977 at Hamburg's “Onkel Pö”. In October 1979, they performed at the 5th Rockpalast Nacht in Essen's Grugahalle together with Mitch Ryder and Nils Lofgren. WDR was on location for the Rockpalast and recorded the event. On March 26, 1992, Southside Johnny & the Asbury Dukes gave a second concert for the Rockpalast at the Live Music Hall in Cologne. That evening, Little Steven made four guest appearances on stage.
