This collection of 93 instrumental pieces and songs offers an enticing glimpse into the guitar, viloine and banjo music played by Texas hillbilly musicians in the 1920s and 1930s. There is an eternity of musical secrets in these songs, which invite to research and musical time travel.

These musicians from the pre-war period drew from very old folk traditions while breaking new ground with groundbreaking creations.

This compilation is a journey far back into the depths of an early Texas, when music mixed the echoes of the elders and the birth pangs of a younger musical generation - Texas was a magical place where music of earlier traditions merged with modern forms to form a new whole.
