This CD was born from a legendary broadcast of “Oldiebörse” on Bremen Eins, where host Thomas Schönherr played rare flipsides of old singles – songs that electrified listeners. Out of that spontaneous enthusiasm grew a labor of love: a collection of 20 remarkable tracks, carefully selected and digitally restored, presented by Bear Family Records.

Each of these B-sides tells its own story. It’s a piece of music history that almost disappeared in the age of streaming and playlists – but now it’s back. With a 20-page booklet, background information, and the unmistakable sound of past decades, this compilation is a must-have for collectors, nostalgics, and music lovers alike.

In Memoriam

For 25 years, he was a trusted voice on the airwaves of Radio Bremen.

Starting on Hansawelle, but especially on Bremen Eins, Thomas Schönherr hosted the Oldiebörse every first Monday of the month alongside Dirk Böhling, helping countless music lovers rediscover long-lost songs.

Over a quarter-century of radio history, seven CDs were produced, and to this day, the monthly Oldiebörsen-Stammtisch continues. The duo presented their final show in 2020. Now, Thomas Schönherr has passed away at the age of 76 after a short illness.

Farewell, Mr. DJ – and thank you for 25 years of passion for radio!

Als ich Thomas Schönherr 1995 in einer Bremer Hotelbar kennenlernte, konnte ich nicht wissen, welche Folgen diese Begegnung haben würde. Die lockere Verabredung, doch vielleicht einmal gemeinsam 'etwas in Sachen Oldies' im Radio zu machen, wurde zu einer langen und erfolgreichen Zusammenarbeit und zu einem Radio-Format, das bundesweit seinesgleichen sucht. Heute ist die OLDIE-BÖRSE ein Garant für die erfolgreiche Suche nach verlorenen Plattenschätzen und ein Pool von Raritäten der Rock- und Popgeschichte vergangener Jahrzehnte. Bremens größter Plattensammler wurde zu einem verlässlichen Ansprechpartner in Sachen Titelsuche - für die Hörerschaft suchte und fand Thomas Schönherr akribisch und leidenschaftlich alles, was vielen Menschen musikalisch an Herz und Ohr gewachsen ist. Unzählige Briefe, Faxe und Emails zeugen von dem Dank und der Freude unserer 'Kundschaft', die mittlerweile weit über unser Sendegebiet hinaus verstreut ist.

Thomas Schönherr und Dirk Böhling, das Team der Oldiebörse auf 'bremen eins', haben für Bear Family einige CD-Alben mit akustischen Seltenheiten herausgebracht, die nicht nur das Herz von Radiohörern höher schlagen lassen:
