Post 1958 the Club Americana, or rather the Gunnell brothers, moved to Wardour Street, where they started the famous Friday and Saturday All-Nighters at the new Flamingo, keeping the spirit of the Americana alive. It was here in the `fully-amplified' club that the template, set earlier in the belly of the Mapleton, fully coalesced into the Mod sound that is familiar today and is reflected in our tracklist.

Many of our featured artists would have been familiar to the cosmopolitan clientele of the Americana such as Ruth Brown, Ray Charles, Sarah Vaughan, the El Dorados (opposite), Cab Kaye, Wilfred Edwards (aka Jackie Edwards) with his Jamaican smash 'Tell Me Darling' and of course Eric Morris' dance hall classic 'Humpty Dumpty'. We also showcase other period tracks that have become popular with club-goers in more recent times such as Lester Young's 'Wobble Time' and the highly collectable 'Soup-Bone' by Chaz + 2.
