other artists had to be left out for reasons of space. With episode 6, many 'single completions' are now done, and new names appear.

During the mid-sixties, the phenomenon of German singing Britons and Americans experienced its heyday. It goes without saying that one episode with the subtitle 'Beat' concentrates primarily on bands and soloists from England, the country of origin of the genre, which quickly spread like wildfire all over the globe.

Some of the artists recorded their German experiments in their home countries, mostly with the help of the original versions, which were merely re-synchronized for this purpose. Thus PYE interpreters (in Germany: Deutsche Vogue) like the Searchers recorded their titles with producer/texter Lawrence 'Larry' Yaskiel alias 'Montague' in the London company studios. Others came via the channel and used the local microphones, controls, inputs and outputs.

Also on episode 6 some titles celebrate their worldwide premiere on CD, like Keine Angst, Little Woman and Daisy Lu from the rather obscure UK band Brian Diamond & The Cutters, Boys and Big Bad John (Liverpool Beats) or Nur du allein von den Merseybeats, the B-side of a meanwhile immensely expensive single from 1964. The extremely rare Lennon/McCartney song Glücklich wie noch niemals (Flamingos) will delight all Beatles collectors, the offer also includes the hitherto hidden Heut' or nie von Benny in the archive; behind this name hid the Liverpool musician, producer and later label boss Paul Murphy. With Ich liebe dich (Rockin' Berries) there is also a song integrated which was only available on one LP in 1964 and strangely enough wasn't used for a single release. Even the request from Ian & The Zodiacs, which did not appear in the 60s despite the assigned catalogue number and ads, found its deserved place here.

But the pool of beat titles in German from British necks is by no means exhausted with this CD coupling: Preparations for new acts in time around Mersey River and Big Ben are already underway.
