Zweimal Bestnote

Die Aufnahmen von Otis Spann, der nur relativ wenige unter eigenem Namen veröffentlichte, sind über viele Labels verstreut. Der Sideman und Halbbruder von Muddy Waters ist jedoch ein so vorzüglicher Blues-Pianist und Sänger gewesen, dass jeder Versuch unterstützt werden muss, ein bisschen Licht in den weitverzweigten Dschungel der existierenden Mitschnitte zu bringen. Inwiefern, dass dem vorliegenden Band gelungen ist, muss noch im Detail überprüft werden. Verdienstvoll ist auch, dass die Bear-Family, die sich müht, vergessene Unterhaltungskünstler der USA einwandfrei editiert wieder neu zu veröffentlichen, sich des Vertriebs des schwer aufzutreibenden Bändchens in Deutschland angenommen hat. Zweimal Bestnote also!
