OMAR & THE HOWLERS were formed in Hattiesburg, Mississippi in 1973 by guitarist and singer Omar Dykes. A short time later the musicians moved to Austin, Texas. But the band broke up because some members felt they couldn't make a living from music. Omar, however, stayed in Austin and looked for new comrades-in-arms.

With 'Big Leg Beat' the first long player was released in 1980, 7 years later OMAR & THE HOWLERS signed their first major record deal with Columbia. Roots-style blues rock is the band's trademark, mixed with some southern rock, and here and there you can hear a few borrowings from CCR. Now OMAR & THE HOWLERS are releasing the live album 'Magic Man', recorded at the September 1989 in the Bremen club "Modernes", recorded by the technicians of Radio Bremen. Omar Dykes: 'I toured extensively in Germany, and I appreciate MIG for releasing the Bremen radio concert to preserve the music for fans to enjoy even today.'
