Monroe Brothers

Charlie (1903-1975) und Bill Monroe (1911-1996) war das berühmteste der Bruderduette, die in den 1930er Jahren entstanden. Im Gegensatz zu anderen ähnlichen Acts zeichneten sich die Monroes durch die treibende Natur ihrer Darbietungen aus: Bill spielte den glühenden Mandolinstil, der später die Bluegrass-Bewegung der 1940er Jahre anführte, und Charlie unterstützte ihn mit einem schnellen Feuergitarrenrhythmus. In My Dear Old Southern Home war eigentlich "Dear Old Sunny South By The Sea" (ein versteckter Titel von Eli Oberstein), der von E. T. Cozzens geschrieben wurde, einem weiteren Mitwirkenden im Repertoire von Rodgers. Die Monroes nahmen ihn bei ihrer ersten Sitzung im Februar 1936 auf.
