The Mojo Blues Band around Erik Trauner stands for a community of musicians who have dedicated themselves to the blues and made the exotic language of the blues their own. Comparable to a second-hand mother tongue with all its dialects are the traditional Chicago Blues as well as swinging R&B and rolling Boogie Woogie.

The band tries to create a homogeneous sound. The focus is not on the endless solo playing of the individual musicians, but on the question-and-answer dialog between the instruments. A concert with the Mojo Blues Band is always a dynamic, tense, hot and cold rollercoaster of emotions, with humor in between.

Despite the respect for the infinite idols of the blues, such as Muddy Waters, Jimmy Reed, Sonny Boy Williamson or T-Bone Walker, the most important thing is to find your own musical path. Blues is not just a form of music, but the expression of a lifestyle. Erik Trauner also sees it this way, saying: “It's about developing your own signature, there's no room for jiving. If you haven't lived, you have nothing to tell. It's like wine: the older we get, the better we get.”

Mojo Blues Band

Die Band um den Gründer Erik Trauner verkörpert eine höchst regsame Interessensgemeinschaft, und präsentiert sich als spielfreudiger Brauchtumsverein mit wechselnder Mitgliedschaft, der eine exotische Sprache wie die des Blues allmählich zu der seinen gemacht hat. Gleichermaßen zur Muttersprache aus zweiter Hand mit allen Ablegern und Dialekten. - Den traditionellen Chicago Blues gleichermaßen wie swingenden R&B und rollende Boogies. Aber auch die Musik aus Louisiana hatte es den Mojos seit jeher angetan und mit der von der Zydeco Musik geprägten Nummer "Rosa Lee" gelang es ihnen sogar 1988 die Hitparaden zu erobern.

1977 gegründet konnte diese "in Europa in ihrem Genre konkurenzlose Formation" - so der Betreiber des Wiener Jazzlands, Axel Melhardt - nunmehr über ein Dutzend Tonträger einspielen und die nahezu beispiellose Referenzliste an Kooperationen mit zahllosen internationalen Größen liest sich wie ein Who's Who der traditionellen Bluesszene. Die Mojo Bluesband gastierte auf fast allen einschlägigen Festivals und Konzertbühnen im In- und Ausland und trotz der stolzen Erfolgsbilanz ist nicht zuletzt auch auf Grund der kompletten Neubesetzung (seit Anfang 2002) keinesfalls mit einem Ausglühen des inneren Feuers zu rechnen.
