MAN Live At Rockpalast 1975 (CD + DVD)

On April 17, 1975, the cult Welsh band MAN played a set lasting just under an hour at Studio L in Cologne—for Rockpalast. Now this legendary performance is being released on CD for the first time. The band, consisting of founding members Micky Jones, Deke Leonard, Terry Williams, and longtime bassist Martin Ace, presented six songs full of energy and musical diversity. MAN combined rock, blues, country, and folk with West Coast influences—a mixture reminiscent of Quicksilver Messenger Service and the Grateful Dead, but always retaining its own character. The performance in Cologne opened with the song “7171-551,” known from the album Maximum Darkness, which was created in collaboration with guitar legend John Cipollina. The band was perfectly in sync at this point—after joint sessions with Cipollina in California and concerts in San Francisco. The CD not only documents a piece of rock history, but also shows MAN at the peak of their musical abilities.
