Grateful Dead – Pioneers of Psychedelic Rock and Jam Band Culture

Formed in 1965 in San Francisco, Grateful Dead became one of the most influential bands of the counterculture era. Their eclectic blend of rock, folk, blues, country, and jazz – combined with free-form, improvisational live shows – made them icons of the psychedelic movement. Songs like Truckin’, Casey Jones, Friend of the Devil, and Ripple have become enduring classics.

Equally legendary is their loyal fanbase, the “Deadheads,” who followed the band across the country and helped shape its identity. Under the charismatic leadership of Jerry Garcia, Grateful Dead stood as a lasting symbol of musical exploration and artistic freedom.
