It's a minor sensation: Alison Krauss is releasing a new solo album in 2017 with 'Windy City'. It is the first solo release with new songs in 18 years.
The US singer and violinist worked with producer Buddy Cannon to select a total of ten classic songs and put her own personal stamp on them.
They include songs from country, bluegrass and pop, such as Willie Nelson's 'I Never Cared For You', Glen Campbell's 'Gentle On My Mind' and Bill Monroe's 'Poison Love'.
Krauss has already given a first taste of her new album with her interpretations of Brenda Lee's 'Loosing You' and the title track 'Windy City', originally by The Osborne Brothers.
In addition to the standard CD and an LP version, 'Windy City' is also available as a deluxe edition. In addition to the album tracks, the CD includes seven exciting live versions, including a duet with country singer Jamey Johnson.
