Jorma Kaukonen (later of Jefferson Airplane and Hot Tuna) met a singer named Janis Joplin at a party in San Jose, California in the fall of 1962. In the years that followed, Janis called on Jorma to accompany her at gigs. As they continued to play together, the Bay Area was changing musically and evolving into the legendary San Francisco scene that both Janis and Jorma would become a part of.

The Legendary Typewriter Tape: 6 / 25 / 64 Jorma's House contains this legendary recording, restored and mastered by renowned Grammy® Award winner Michael Graves. The tracks feature Joplin on vocals & Jorma on guitar. This may have been just a sample, but it is so much more. Containing both Joplin originals and blues classics, The Legendary Typewriter Tape is an intimate glimpse into the beginnings of two important artists who would go on to have hugely influential careers.
