Was that Krautrock or what? Yes! Chronologically and geographically you have to put Gate in that category. The music is experimental, but not improvisational. Complex, often tricky, hardly danceable, but always strictly arranged, even in solos. And the band had nothing to do with electronics.

In July 1976, Gate had a concert at the "Börse" in Wuppertal recorded and offered the tape - for a long time in vain - to record companies. It was not until eight months later that the renowned Brain label released the album "Gate Live". In February 1977, Gate opened the Essen Brain Festival with "outstanding hard rock" (BRAVO). At the 78 Brain Festival, they presented the repertoire of their first studio LP "Red Light Sister". This was followed a few months later by the "Rockpalast" appearance on WDR. The last Gate concert took place in December 1981, in their hometown of Haan.

In 2023, both Gate albums will be re-released remastered on a double CD, with great liner notes about the history of the band, written by Gate guitarist Manfred Schröpfer, and many rare photos from the period 1974 - 1981.
