For his new album, There's Something About The Night, Scott Ellison had the opportunity to refine his approach to every aspect of the creative process, and the result is something to behold.

Unable to tour as usual due to the Covid suspensions, he used the time spent at home to create the most focused album of his decades-long career. This is my 13th album, and it's the first time I haven't had to go through a start-stop-start-stop recording process, he says. "Like pretty much everyone else, I was stuck at home from March last year! I'd get up at 5:30 or 6 in the morning, pick up my guitar and just work on songs. Being forced to stop being on the road was maybe the best thing that ever happened to me creatively." Over the course of 14 tracks, Ellison's searing guitar and soulful vocals make for a strong one-two punch.

From a Chicago-meets-Texas shuffle to blues-rock workouts to pure soul blues and just about everything in between, the album meets all the blues criteria and more. Ellison wrote and recorded the album in his hometown of Tulsa, OK. On some tracks he plays with his primary backing and touring band, and on others he plays with a number of Los Angeles all-stars, including members of Eric Clapton's band and Albert Lee's band.

Ellison also co-wrote ten tracks with Michael Price (who penned Ain't No Love (In The Heart Of The City) for Bobby Blue Bland and gave Ellison a rousing treatment for the album's first single and video).

Working with Michael was an eye-opening experience. With a range of styles woven into one cohesive package, There's Something About The Night takes Ellison's past and present and reinvents them as a bold template for the future
