Billy Don Burns

Billy Don Burns ist einer, der wirklich auf den Spuren der alten legendären Outlaws um Willie Nelson, David Allan Coe oder Waylon Jennings wandelt. Der in Arkansas geborene Billy Don begann 1970 nach seiner Armeezeit in Kalifornien, Gitarre zu spielen und Songs zu schreiben.
Dieser Künstler ist „Country To The Bone“ – man nimmt ihm ab, daß er zu der Gilde zählt, die Jahre ihres Lebens mit einer Gitarre und einer Whiskeyflasche in verrauchten Honky Tonks verbracht haben.
Das alles kommt auch in seinen Liedern vor, vom Drogenschmuggel aus Mexiko („Runnin’ Drugs Out Of Mexico“) über Auftritte mit großen Stars wie Ernest Tubb („I Was There“) bis zu einer Episode im Süden der USA („Mississippi“, ein Duett mit Tanya Tucker). Dazu der „Keith Whitley Blues“ mit Jeff Williams und Wesley K. Orbison, Sohn von Roy Orbison, ein überwältigendes Tribut an den verstorbenen Johnny Cash („Give My Love To Rose“) und viele weitere exzellente Songs.
