Superb album of the German roots rock/rock'n'roll formation on CrossCut from 2004 and still current! Their wacky mix of rockabilly, original R&B, some Cajun country and blues is their recipe for success. American roots music, partly characterized by gritty sounds, could put Velvetone on the next Quentin Tarantino soundtrack. Besides mostly their own songs, the guys from Bremen (who sound-wise could be from Austin, Texas) cover Waylon Jennings, Earl Gaines, Tarheel Slim and - you wouldn't believe it - Frankie Goes To Hollywood! Their totally alienated 'Welcome To The Pleasuredome' is a freaky highlight. A wacky band that can easily compete with The Paladins or Los Lobos!
