The Holy Roller's Music Box presents Vol.1

"About 40 years ago, my musical career began with the Glitterhouse Fanzine. The first issue had features on Josef K., the Go-Betweens and The Bongoes. Soon both the writer base and the musical horizons expanded.

We covered old garage punk (Chocolate Watch Band, etc.) and new (Fuzztones, etc.), Australian bands old (Radio Birdman) and new (Trilobites, etc.), and records related to the Cramps in the broadest sense (Tav Falco, Sting-Rays, Link Wray, Trashmen, etc.). 2-3 years after the start I was joined by a certain Hank Ray, who had just formed his band Hank Ray & The Raymen. At that time I also started a small mailorder with a bag full of 7"-es that I had bought in Australia directly from John Needham of Citadel and transported home. In the mailorder we also sold music cassettes, including a series called "Swinging In The Tombs Of Egypt" - C-90s filled to the brim with then obscure rockabilly and weird surf instrumentals. All copied on a double deck, cover copied and sold for 12 marks. Sometime 35 years later I stumbled across it again and was thrilled by the track listing.

Unfortunately no one had the original cassettes anymore (there were 4 of them), but Hank is a well organized person and still had the cassette inlays together, including a 5th volume which never appeared. The plan now is to release all 5 cassettes on 10". Little by little, about fifteen 10's will be released and here are the first 12 tracks. (Stagman)
