When Jamaica became independent on August 6, 1962 Clement Dodd was already the top music producer on the island. He had grown from a sound operator in the 1950's to become an astute hitmaker and his legend grew by discovering groups like the Wailers that featured a young Bob Marley. From then on Studio One created a catalog of material that still influences the music of Jamaica.
