ABOUT SLOW GRIND FEVER - The background:

Slow Grind Fever started when I hired a Russian Cultural Centre ballroom and threw a slow dance party for my 30th birthday. We had a mountain of pickles and cheese on the table out the back, people brought their own red wine and brown liquor, we turned out all the lights and me and my buddies Pierre Baroni and Mohair Slim played our slowest, spookiest, sweetest, swinginest records all night long. It was a real good time.

A few months later we started Slow Grind Fever as a regular monthly club night in a little room above The Tote Hotel in Collingwood, and after a couple of great years there we moved to our current home upstairs at Bar Open in Fitzroy. On the last Saturday of every month we play our slowest, spookiest, sweetest, swinginest records, and people dance slow in a haze of smoke and dim red light. It’s a real good time.

We post up a monthly Slow Grind Fever mix in the week before the party every month, and we’re collaborating with Stag-O-Lee Records in Germany on a series of Slow Grind Fever LPs and CDs.

Enjoy the music and if you get a chance, come visit us on the last Saturday of the month some time. Listening to the MP3 mixes is nice, but when you’re up in the that room all wrapped up in smoke with the music sizzling right off the old records and through the speakers and into your brain, well, there's nothing quite like it…
