This 1986 Mercury Records compilation brings together 28 tracks from four influential groups of the 1950s on two LPs, offering a varied snapshot of the era’s doo-wop and rhythm-and-blues sound. The selection includes “Bark, Battle And Ball”, “Winner Take All”, “Be Mine Or Be A Fool”, “Cool Shake” and “One Summer Night”. It is a collection built around vocal harmonies, memorable melodies and the distinctive character of classic American singing groups. The edition comes in a gatefold sleeve and features digital mastering at Polygram Studios, with the recordings presented mostly in their original mono sound.
