United Records and its sister imprint States had one of the most varied blues talent rosters of any Chicago label during the early-to-mid-1950s. Long Man Blues spotlights 70 minutes of superb United/States rarities. Contains 25 songs including many previously unissued and others unavailable since their initial 78 release. With Eddie Boyd, L.C. McKinley, Ernest Cotton, Jack Cooley, Harold Burrage, Dennis "Long Man" Binder, Cliff Butler, Eddie Ware, Edward "Gates" White and Arbee Stidham featuring the legendary guitarist Earl Hooker. A wide range of styles are featured; from down-home '50s Chicago blues to the more uptown jazz-inflected blues prevalent on many United recordings.
