BIRMINGHAM JONES, born Jan. 9, 1937 in Saginaw, MI, moved to Chicago in 1950, first learned saxophone and worked as a sideman with the J.B. Lenoir group, Elmore James group; learned to play harp and formed his own group, Birmingham Jones & his Lover Boys, recorded for the Ebony label in 1956, for Vee Jay in 1963, toured with the Muddy Waters Band in 1968, worked with Eddie Shaw, Jonny Young and the Eddie Clearwater Band in the '70s, now works on the West Side with Eddie Taylor, Tail Dragger, Willie Kent, et al.

Willie Kent, born Feb. 24, 1936 in Sunflower, Miss. came to Chicago in 1949, played with Muddy Waters, Big Boy Crudup and the Wolf Band, formed his own band in 1958 - the Willie Kent Blues Band, performed with Little Walter, Muddy Waters & Fenton Robinson in the '60s and '70s, toured Japan with John Little John in 1981, plays mostly on the West Side today with his own band: Chico Chism, drums, Madock Bluster, harp and Jerry Welsh, guitar. He is one of the best bass players.

Snooky Pryor, born 9/15/1921 in Lambert, MS, worked regularly with Homesick James since 1970, toured Europe in 1973 and 1977. Is one of the last traditional harp players.

Jimmy Walker, born 8.3.1905 in Memphis, Tann. came to Chicago in 1908, is one of the last pianists deeply rooted in the classical style, in 1983 he recorded his first solo album for Wolf Records, still today he can be heard in various clubs in Chlcago's North-Side.
